Mental Health Counselor - Malacapay, Mark

About Me:

Hi, my name is Mark Malacapay or Mr. M. I was born in the Philippines but grew up in Queens, New York. I received my bachelor’s degree in Media Arts at Long Island University- Brooklyn. I earned my masters degree in Social Work at NYU’s Silver School of Social Work. I moved from New York to Oakland in 2017 and moved to Redwood City in the summer of 2021. I am entering my second year at MIT and I look forward to reconnecting with all the students from last year and getting to know the incoming 6th grade class! 

In my spare time, I enjoy watching sports. I am a loyal supporter of the New York Giants, Mets, Knicks, Rangers and Arsenal.

Fun Fact: I was a career changer. After undergrad, I worked in the music industry, working at record labels such as Jive Records, Sony BMG and Warner Music Group. I was inspired to switch careers after doing volunteer work at youth centers in Queens. This year will be my 9th year as a school-based mental health clinician.
