About Me:

Hi, my name is Katie Murphy and I am so excited to be a part of the MIT family this year.  I truly can’t believe that this will be my 22nd year teaching. I have had the opportunity to teach in Redwood City, New York, Los Angeles, and eventually returned back to the place, I love, the Bay Area. I received my credential from the University of San Diego as well as earned a certification in Differentiated Instruction for Gifted and Talented Learners from the University of Southern California.  I believe that every child is a gift and is an important part of our learning community. 

 

I was born and raised in a large Irish family. I am a proud daughter, sister, and auntie to 3 beautiful nieces and two nephews.  My biggest identity and joy is being a mom to my 15 year old son.  I love to watch him play sports and travel with him.  In my free time, I love to hike, run, read, explore new places, and garden in my backyard.
